Are Nicotine-Free Cigarettes Safe?

People are focusing more on trying nicotine-free cigarettes thinking it will not harm them as much as nicotine cigarettes do. But this is not the truth. Many researchers have found that nicotine less or nicotine-free cigarettes are no less harmful to smokers.

According to researchers, the idea that nicotine-free cigarettes are less harmful than conventional cigarettes is not supported by research. Smokers of nicotine-free cigarettes are somewhat free of intoxicants but are not safe from other harmful substances.

Is there much difference between normal cigarettes and nicotine-free cigarettes?

Some tests were done on both the cigarettes which showed that the condensates coming from the smoke of nicotine-free cigarettes, low nicotine cigarettes, and normal cigarettes had similar mutagenic potency. The cigarette industry has a mindset that nicotine-free cigarettes are natural and herbal.

What is a herbal cigarette?

Herbal and organic cigarettes don't have nicotine in them. These are small rolls that are made of herbs such as basil, lemongrass, spearmint leaves, rose petals, green tea, etc. Herbal cigarettes come in many different flavors, sometimes there is a mixture of flavors available, and sometimes the brands focus on only one particular flavor

Herbal or organic cigarettes do not contain nicotine or tobacco.

What do the researchers have to say?

Nicotine is addictive that's why people come back to get the feeling of it again. But nicotine cigarettes have other chemical compounds too, that go along with nicotine that causes harm.

Even if one smokes nicotine-free cigarettes, hoping that no nicotine means no harm, it will still cause harm to some extent. There are other substances in it, which releases black tar, which is very harmful to the lungs, a researcher said.
